The board unanimously approved Dr. Karen Plaut, dean of Purdue University’s College of Agriculture, as its vice chair through 2023. INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 14, 2022) – The State of Indiana, as well as seven Hoosier cities, have once again been recognized for their national life science strengths, according to Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and TEConomy Partners’ biennial survey of the U.S. life sciences industry. The report, The U.S. Bioscience Industry: Fostering Innovation and Driving America’s Economy Forward, measures growth in the biosciences sector* from 2018 to 2021 for the entire country and each of the fifty states. Indiana continued its top 10 employment ranking in the life sciences, with a sizeable workforce and industry concentration in the areas of agriculture feedstock and chemicals, drugs and pharmaceuticals, and medical devices and equipment. INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 3, 2022) – A new report from Ascend Indiana and EmployIndy shows that as the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions began to ease over time, a vast and permanent shift emerged showing that highly skilled, highly educated workers were the most in-demand, while at the same time, Indiana was seeing significant declines in postsecondary enrollment by Indiana residents. TechPoint, Indiana’s nonprofit, industry-led tech sector growth initiative and InnoPower, a community development organization that works to increase opportunities for Black Hoosiers, are working to change that. INDIANAPOLIS (October 11, 2022) — TechPoint, the nonprofit, industry-led growth accelerator for Indiana’s tech ecosystem, today announced a strategic partnership with New Apprenticeship TM (NEW), another key element of its Mission41K plan to inclusively grow the Indiana tech workforce by an additional 41,000 workers by 2030. Apprenticeships are a proven way to encourage youth to join the tech sector, and a quick way for adults to enter the field while also providing an immediate return on investment to employers.
