INDIANAPOLIS – COVID-19 has forced the closure of Indianapolis schools until early January, but significant numbers of families struggle to access remote instruction because they lack high-speed internet at home. To help bridge this connectivity gap and build toward a comprehensive solution, the City of Indianapolis is helping support the launch of a $1.7 million network pilot to connect students at six public schools with high-speed internet to enable eLearning. If proven successful in the pilot stage, the Marion County Dedicated Network Pilot could be scaled up to serve public school students countywide as soon as early 2022. The City is funding the pilot with $730,000 in federal CARES Act funding, which is dedicated to offsetting the impacts of the pandemic. The Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation contributed $500,000, and Lilly Endowment Inc. contributed $330,000, with the remaining $100,000 coming from [...]

Statement: Central Indiana business leaders in support of Governor Holcomb’s mask mandate

2021-04-05T16:48:40-04:00July 24, 2020|

Statement of Support: We, leaders from the business community throughout Indiana, endorse Governor Holcomb’s decision to mandate wearing masks in public places for all Hoosiers, effective July 27, 2020, in response to the continuing challenges of COVID-19. All organizations and people in the state have a role to play in mitigating the spread of this dangerous and disruptive disease, which shows few signs of abating. The Governor’s announcement reinforces what many of us are already doing in our own organizations -- requiring the use of masks in the workplace. We are grateful for the Governor’s careful and caring leadership here. This is a prudent step to take to promote everyone’s safety, especially as our youngest citizens prepare to return to school. Hoosiers should indeed “mask up” and support this wise decision. Statement participants: Gail K. Boudreaux President and Chief Executive [...]

Statement: Marion County business leaders in support of Mayor Hogsett’s stay-at-home extension

2021-04-05T16:48:40-04:00May 6, 2020|

May 6, 2020 Statement from Marion County Business Leaders: As leaders of Central Indiana business, community and healthcare organizations, we support the difficult decision by Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett to extend until May 15 Marion County’s stay-at-home order in response to COVID-19. Putting public health first, utilizing data-driven approaches, and acting upon guidance from local public health officials, necessitates a different response in densely populated Marion County than in the majority of the rest of the state. Our community’s frontline healthcare heroes have performed inspirationally and admirably in meeting the pandemic challenge. Still, Marion County, with 14% of the state’s population, has seen nearly one-third of all Indiana COVID-19 cases, and suffered nearly one-third of all statewide COVID-19 deaths, with an incidence rate continuing for new cases at nearly three-times the rate elsewhere in the state. And though County patient [...]

CICP Closes Office; Employees to Work from Home

2021-04-05T16:48:40-04:00March 16, 2020|

INDIANAPOLIS (March 16, 2020) - Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) does not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19, but in an abundance of caution we have decided to take additional measures to ensure our risk remains low and to respond to community calls for social distancing that can help block additional spread of the virus.
