TechPoint issues positive progress report for its Mission41K initiative

TechPoint, the growth initiative for Indiana's tech sector, has released a progress report on its Mission 41K initiative aimed at growing the tech sector by 41,000 jobs by 2030. The initiative, which launched in September 2022, has shown progress as Indiana has grown its tech workforce by 5.6 percent, which is double the national tech workforce rate last year. According to TechPoint, since it launched the initiative more than 100 individuals and organizations have taken the Mission41K pledge. The report shows that 92 percent of all jobs in Indiana require some level of tech skill. Tech employment in Indiana stands at 118,872 jobs at nearly 9,300 tech companies. TechPoint issues Q2 2023 Indiana Tech Venture Report: Steadying pace towards market equilibrium between startups and investors

The venture capital landscape today, with regards to deal flow, looks similar to that of the early months of the pandemic in 2020. Crunchbase data showed global venture funding in Q2 2023 fell 18% quarter over quarter to $65 billion, down 49% compared to the second quarter of 2022, when startup investors spent $127 billion. The first half of 2023 is down by similar proportions. Nearly 60% of Hoosiers have engaged in entrepreneurship; more than 12% are business owners, according to new survey

INDIANAPOLIS (June 27, 2023) – New research from NORC at the University of Chicago finds that more than half of all Hoosiers have participated in at least one entrepreneurial activity, which includes involvement in or steps toward business ownership or freelancing. However, the survey shows that current business planners and other potential entrepreneurs could benefit from more resources and support. The data comes from Entrepreneurship in the Population: Indiana (EPOP-IN), a survey commissioned by the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP). “A thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem is a critical part of having a dynamic economy.
